Scope of this Standard
This National Standard specifies the minimum requirements for hotels and guesthouses operating in Trinidad and Tobago. This standard includes requirements for: a) guest facilities; b) public areas; c) food and beverage preparation and service area; d) staff break areas; and e) safety and security. 1.2 This standard does not apply to: a) bed and breakfast establishments; b) self-catering units; NOTE See TTS 22-2, Requirements for tourist accommodation, Part 2: Bed and breakfast and self-catering facilities. c) private residences or apartments rented for periods exceeding one month; d) villas; NOTE See TTS 22-3, Requirements for tourist accommodation, Part 3: Villas. e) eco-lodge; and NOTE See TTS 22-4, Requirements for tourist accommodation, Part 4: Eco lodge. f) premises used exclusively for the accommodation of persons in religious, educational or charitable organizations
